For the past 5 years, the day care industry has been experiencing a massive growth spurt. The industry has seen a climb in net profit margins from 3.1 percent to 9.9 percent between the years 2010 to 2014.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the cost of child day care services rose 70 percent between 1985 and 2011, to $143 per week. During roughly the same period, the Census Bureau estimates, the number of facilityies in the coutry increased to more than 766,000 from 262,000.
Sageworks says “If companies in the industry are able to continue to justify higher prices while maintaining the same cost structure, we could see profit margins in the industry rise even more.”
